Virginity has a High Value
Genesis 34:12
Ask me never so much dowry and gift, and I will give according as ye shall say unto me: but GIVE ME THE DAMSEL TO WIFE.
MANY ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE TORAH LAW FOR THE DOWRY OF VIRGINS.
Exodus 22:
16 And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife.
17 If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.
ACCORDING TO THIS LAW:
If a man takes a woman’s virginity, he is obligated to make her his wife. But, IF her father utterly refuses, he still has to pay the dowry of virgins. This dowry turns into a fine if you don't ask the father's permission first. What crime is it in this world if a man takes a virgin to his wife, without the father for the daughter's hand in marriage? So, how often does this happen? Is the daughter's virginity protected?
This Dowry would most definitely discourage men from taking a woman's virginity without asking her father for her hand in marriage first. It would also discourage unrighteous men from defiling the daughters of the world. Only serious men who value a good woman would be willing to pay the dowry of virgins. Fathers would know their duty to protect it & daughters would know the value to keep it.
This dowry of virgins is sometimes looked upon as selling your daughter for money. But this is without a doubt not the case at all. A woman’s virginity is a high value in the sight of the Most High & Men! It's the law if you keep it. You can't take a man's daughter who is a virgin & not give him a dowry gift. Remember his daughter is also an extra helping hand in his house. She cooks, she cleans, she helps watch the children that are born, etc... With the dowry paid, he can find a replacement for you & be willing to let her go. There are many reasons why the dowry of virgins was required.
In either case, if you remove the dowry of virgins. You also remove the fine & crime of taking a virgin without asking the father's hand in marriage first. It's not a surprise or wonder to me that in this world, young girls are losing (throwing away) their virginity like it's a disease to carry around.

Leviticus 21:
1 And YHWH said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests THE SONS OF AARON, and say unto them,... 13 And he shall take a wife in her virginity. 14 A widow, or a divorced woman, or profane, or an harlot, these shall he not take: but he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife.
A FATHER IS A YOUNG WOMAN'S PROTECTION OF HER MOST HOLY POSSESSION.

Ecclesiasticus 42:9
The father waketh for the daughter, when no man knoweth; and the care for her taketh away sleep: when she is young, lest she pass away the flower of her age; and being married, lest she should be hated:
10 In her virginity, lest she should be defiled & gotten with child in her father's house; & having an husband, lest she should misbehave herself; and when she is married, lest she should be barren.
YOUNG WOMEN OF TODAY:
Young women of the world are sad without this kind of protection. There is no fine for taking a woman’s virginity, without asking her father’s hand in marriage.
Is it a surprise that there are many unrighteous men & women in the world today?
THEY DO NOT KNOW A WOMAN’S WORTH. I HOPE TO CHANGE THAT IN THIS ARTICLE TODAY
Before I continue, I must add that THIS DOWRY is not the same as what the other nations practice. Such as in India, the groom receives the dowry to take a wife. This is absolutely backward to the Most High’s ways. Many dowry deaths have occurred because of the greed for money & not giving value to the woman, & giving instead to the man. Giving a woman dowry does not endanger any man, but giving a man dowry, is always a high risk to a woman. Again, these is the backward customs of the other nations, I just want to be clear that the dowry mentioned in the scriptures is not speaking the same thing.
WHAT WAS THE DOWRY OF A VIRGIN?
Deuteronomy 22:
[28] If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;
[29] Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.
WHAT IS THE VALUE OF 50 SHEKELS OF SILVER?
I WILL INVESTIGATE THE MONETARY WORTH OF A WOMAN’S VIRGINITY IN DOLLARS IN COMPARISON TO 50 SHEKELS OF SILVER. PLEASE FULLY UNDERSTAND, THAT THIS IS A DOWRY IS FOR A WIFE & NOT A ONE-NIGHT STAND.
HOW MUCH IS A SHEKEL WORTH TODAY?
A shekel was about 15 grams of silver.
This means you would need about 750 grams of silver to pay for the dowry of a virgin.
or 29.5 oz of silver = 50 Shekels of Silver
This means you would need about 750 grams of silver.
The price of silver has gone up & down for centuries..
o 1344 - Price of silver @ ~$400.00 per ounce
o 1477 - Silver value reaches ~$806.00 per ounce (all-time high )
o 1545 - Potosl mines open in North America ( silver value begins a gradual decline )
o 1780's - Silver value falls below $100.00 per ounce
o 1890's - Silver prices fall below $50.00 per ounce
o 1980 - Price of silver @ $68.00 per ounce (Hunt Brothers attempt to corner silver market)
o 1998 - Silver valued @ $6.24 per ounce
o 2003 - $4.07 per ounce
IF a Virgin is valued according to 50 Shekels a silver, then in 2003 a virgin was worth about $120.07 (29.5 * $4.07) It's just a week's income for a low-wage earner. This is an insult to a young virgin and it is UNACCEPTABLE! There is no Silver Shekel currency as of yet, so a virgin can not be giving in silver.
We must compare items that a shekel would have bought to what a modern dollar would purchase and other means to calculate the true value of a virgin for a wife.
THE CASE FOR THE TRUE & REAL VALUE OF A VIRGIN
(This is the value of all women, because women start off as virgins, once you marry a virgin, she is still valuable; but a profane woman has little worth)
INVESTIGATION FOR REAL VALUE OF A VIRGIN
CASE #1:
It should be noted that Yahushua was betrayed for only 30 shekels –not even enough to pay for a virgin’s dowry!
CASE #2:
And Joseph was sold into slavery for 20 shekels.
CASE #3:
A middle-class dwelling rented for about 5 shekels a year
FACT:
5 shekels x 10 yrs = 50 shekels of silver
10 yrs worth of Rent = the Value of a Virgin
CASE #4:
The average wage was about 15 shekels a year.
15 shekels a year x 3.33 yrs = 50 shekels
This means a virgin dowry would be about 3.3 years income for the average wage earner!
15 shekels a yr x's 3.33 yrs = 50 shekels of silver, the average wage earner would have to save 3 yrs full income to purchase a virgin!!! But, you would have to work about 7 yrs in order to leave money to survive. This is why Jacob worked 7 yrs for Rachael. The dowry of a virgin was worth 7 yrs of labor with room & board.

7 YRS LABOR FOR 1 VIRGIN:
Jacob worked 7 yrs for each wife's dowry.
Gen. 29:15-30
15 And Laban said unto Jacob, Because thou art my brother, shouldest thou therefore serve me for nought? tell me, what shall thy wages be?
16 And Laban had two daughters: the name of the elder was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel.
17 Leah was tender eyed; but Rachel was beautiful and well favoured.
18 And Jacob loved Rachel; and said, I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter.
19 And Laban said, It is better that I give her to thee, than that I should give her to another man: abide with me.

50 SHEKELS OF SILVER = $100,000 Dollars in Today's value!
$6.88 an hour with Room & Board
Earning a low wage of $275 a week=
$14,300 a year
$100,100 = 7yrs
50 Shekels of Silver would be the equivalent of $100,000 Dollars Today!
Of course, this price meant you kept her for life, & not just a one-time fling.
So please, don't measure the value of a virgin in TODAY'S WORTH OF SILVER.
Silver is no longer used as money.
• At today's price of $17.50 an ounce, for 26.5 ounces, that is about $455
A virgin is not worth $455, any bum can gather this amount of money together to get a virgin.
Fathers don't take away the value of your virgin daughter by not requesting a dowry.
I am not saying try to get $100,000, but know your daughter's worth is a high price & according to the law, (if you say you keep it), she requires a dowry.
WHAT DID THE PARENTS DO WITH THIS DOWRY?

And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold;
After Rebekah's parents approved the marriage, Abraham's servant, gives them more gifts (dowry)
Genesis 24:51
Behold, Rebekah is before thee, take her, and go, and let her be thy master's son's wife, as YHWH hath spoken.
52 And it came to pass, that, when Abraham's servant heard their words, he worshipped YHWH, bowing himself to the earth.
53 And the servant brought forth jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment, and gave them to Rebekah: he gave also to her brother and to her mother precious things.
Before giving away Rebekah her father sent her away with gifts of a nurse & maidservants for life.
Genesis 24:59
And they sent away Rebekah their sister, and her nurse, and Abraham's servant, and his men.
60 And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Thou art our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed possess the gate of those which hate them.
61 And Rebekah arose, and her damsels, and they rode upon the camels, and followed the man: and the servant took Rebekah, and went his way.
In tradition, its the father of the bride who pays for the wedding. When a man pays the father a dowry, this gives him a chance to give his daughter a big celebration for staying a virgin until she got married. Some will help pay for the down payment for a house, or another valuable gift for the new couple starting off. Its the father (parents) who decide what should be done with the dowry. A giving father (most are) will make sure to bless his daughter.
QUESTIONS?
How many daughters would then be motivated to remain virgins if they knew their father would throw them a big wedding before giving them away?
How many fathers would make sure they do their jobs, & protect their daughter's virginity if they knew they would receive a large sum of money for this?
How many future husbands would hold on to their wives & value them as high worth, if they paid the true value of a virgin?
How many daughters would KEEP THEIR virginity if they knew that people around them kept its worth?
EVERYONE KNOWS THE ANSWERS TO THESE QUESTIONS:
There is no value for a virgin unless we as Yah fearing people keep it.
Protecting the value of a virgin, is what I want everyone to leave from reading this blog. Let the dowry be a way of giving back to your daughter & sending her off with a big blessing. Transfer the value back to the woman of the world. Don't give your daughters away for free.
I would also like to add...
That a man was protected by law if he paid the dowry for a virgin & it came out to be false. The woman pays with her life. This protected the man's investment in a virgin & it kept people from lying.
